Summer Break Food Box program

For the past two years, the Narberth Community Food Bank has operated the Student Break Box program for students in need. The program continues this summer and is available to any eligible student regardless of whether they currently receive free/reduced lunch at school.

Please be sure to read and complete  the NFCB Summer Food Box Program form and the appropriate declaration of need form linked below.

NFCB Summer Food Box Program
Self Declaration of Need 150 percent
Self Declaration of Need 185 percent

Public school students should return the forms to your guidance counselor. Private school families may contact the NCFB directly.

The week before each break (winter, spring and summer), typically on a Tuesday, a volunteer will deliver Break Boxes to your school. Each box may include cereal, box milk, juice, peanut butter and jelly, tuna, mayonnaise, bread, granola bars, macaroni and cheese, pasta, tomato sauce, produce and additional snacks.

On June 12, 2012 the first Break boxes will be delivered to each school for families to receive. Boxes for July and August will need to be picked up by families at Narberth Community Food Bank. Instructions for July and August boxes will be included in the June Break Box.

Please include how many children under age 18 reside in the household to ensure enough food for all. Additional information regarding age or gender allows us to add other items that may have been donated such as books, activity workbooks, art supplies, etc.

We look forward to working with you to be sure that every Narberth Borough and Lower Merion Township student has the food they need to grow and thrive.

Yours sincerely,

Gigi Tevlin-Moffat

Narberth Community Food Bank

Welcome to the Narberth Community Food Bank. We are located in the United Methodist Church in Narberth at 206 Price Avenue, at the corner of Price Avenue and Essex Avenue.

Our hours are Tuesdays from 10 am to 1 pm, and 6 pm to 8 pm.

We are open to accept donations on Monday evenings from 7 pm to 8 pm. Click here to find the items we currently need most.

Thank you to St. Margaret’s School, Bala Cynwyd Middle School, and a special thank you to Belmont Hills Elementary School for their year-long support. Thanks to Mayor Tom Grady and his team as the Narberth Community Food Bank will be one of the recipients of funds raised by The Mayor’s Ball. Thank you to the Narberth 4th of July Committee for their financial donation which allowed us to expand the Break Box program to eight area schools. Thanks also to the Lower Merion School District for their communication and participation in the Break Box program.

We need you to volunteer! Volunteer opportunities exist during donation hours on Monday evenings, sending out letters and thank you’s, and prepping for Tuesday’s open hours. Volunteers are also needed to staff Tuesday evenings from 5:45 to 8:30 pm. Bi-monthly volunteers are as needed and as important as weekly volunteers. Stop by on Monday and talk with us, or mail us at volunteers@narberthcommunityfoodbank.org.
